Rich History Creates a Warm Community of People

La Vernia has a rich history based on hardworking and innovated settlers. People have flocked to La Vernia as early as the 1840s. The town, originally known as Post Oak, was colonized by German and the Polish immigrants as well as Mexican settlers. Upon hearing there was already a settlement with that name; the town was changed to La Vernia.

Over the years, La Vernia has grown into an eclectic community and thriving business hub yet has never lost its warmth. It’s still the place where natives affectionately tip their hats and say, “Howdy,” with a smile to fresh to strangers. Here, you will enjoy the beautiful landscape and countless oak trees strewn throughout the countryside as well as the sea of bluebonnets that never fail to surface across the country roads in spring. La Vernia maintains that small town charm complimented with the convenience of a large urban area. Whether you come for the notable public school system (PreK-12), low crime rate, affordable housing or just the country living – La Vernia is one great place to call home.
