On Thursday, March 12, 2009 the La Vernia City Council adopted Resolution No. 031209-02 of the City of La Vernia, Texas, establishing the fee schedule related to building permits and plan review. Section 1. Building Permit Fees and Plan Review Fees A. Maintenance and repairs on existing structures requires a permit, but no fee will be assessed. Additions are not considered repairs or maintenance. B. Building Permit Fees and Plan Review Fees: Valuation | Building Permit Fee | Plan Review Fee | $0 - 5,000 | No Fee Assessed | No Fee Assessed | $5,001 - $10,000 | $25.00 | No Fee Assessed | $10,001 - $50,000 | $125.00 | No Fee Assessed | $50,001 - $300,000 | $250.00 | 50 percent of the permit fee | $300,001 - $500,000 | $500.00 | 50 percent of the permit fee | $500,001 - $1,000,000 | $1,000.00 | 50 percent of the permit fee | $1,000,001 and Up | $1,000.00 for the first $1,000,000 and $2.00 for each additional $1,000 or fraction thereof. | 50 percent of the permit fee |
C. Demolition of existing structures requires a permit, but no fee will be assessed. Section 2. Penalties Where work for which a permit is required by this code is started or proceeded prior to obtaining said permit, the fees herein specified shall be doubled, but the payment of such double fee shall not relieve any persons from fully complying with the requirements of this code in the execution of the work nor from any other penalties prescribed herein. Section 3. Amendment of Fees The City Council may change the fees at any time. Following the approval by City Council of the amended fees and the effective date, the City shall post the changes in rates and charges at City Hall, and publish the fees in the local newspaper.
